Isidor Vrsajkov Art Estate

Sonja V. Horgan is representing Isidor Vrsajkov art Estate on behalf of the family. Please use the contact form on the website for enquiries and organizing exhibitions.

Important note for art collectors:

Please get in touch with us via the contact form on the website to confirm if the painting that you would like to purchase or have purchased already is an original work of Isidor Vrsajkov since we have come across several forgeries selling as Isidor's landscapes, old clocks as well as his other artistic themes on several eCommerce platforms.

We are working hard to deal with this and report it as soon as we notice, but some are still searchable online and therefore it is not always possible to delete all the pages with the forgeries. We have contacted the admins but we have no control over this issue and they have not deleted some old listings that are forgeries.

Please note: this refers to commercial art galleries and eCommerce platforms in Serbia and not the renowned international auction houses that have confirmed the authenticity of the artwork they sell.

If you have one of Isidor Vrsajkov's originals in your collection, please get in touch and send us a photograph for our archives.

Thank you so much we will be very grateful!

Isidor Vrsajkov 1927- 2001

Isidor Vrsajkov was born 1927 in Despotovo, Vojvodina, Yugoslavia (now Serbia). He graduated with MA from Art Academy University of Belgrade where he studied classical painting and painting technology. His teachers were Milo Milunovic and Kosta Hakman renowned artists of ex- Yugoslavia.

He moved to Novi Sad in the late 1950-ties to join the art community of the professional artists on Novi Sad Petrovaradin Fortress where he got an art studio that he spent all his art career working in.

Isidor participated in many group exhibitions in ex Yugoslavia as well as many countries around the world together with the other renowned artists such as the Mediala Group, Dado Djuric, Vlada Velickovic, Ljuba Popovic, Olja Ivanicki and many others.

Isidor's tapestries were exhibited at some of the biggest and most renowened worlds exhibitions of the tapestries such as Biennale of Tapestry in Lausanne as well as many other groups shows often representing ex Yugoslavia together with Jagoda Bujic in the USA, Mexico, New Zealand, Australia, Philippines and many other countries around the world.

In Isidor's early artistic style there was still an influence of his teacher Milo Milonovic with the stylised figures and the line being the dominant element. He had later developed his recognisable artistic style that had a predominant influence of the Surrealism and Fantasy Art of the era in ex Yugoslavia which resonated with his imaginary artistic world of old clocks, Habsburg generals, dark figures, windows and creases of the old walls and fortresses.

He had worked on some of his monumental canvases for many months to achieve the desired realistic impression and the atmosphere of this imaginary world.

Isidor was featured in 'The Book of Tapestry' (Encyclopedia of Tapestry) by Pierre Verlet, Michel florisoone, Adolf Hoffmeister, Francois Tabard
